March Past

March Past

Calling all club members, active or associate, who can march in time to bagpipes and keep their arms straight! You are needed in the North Steyne March Past team!

March Past is a traditional event held at all major carnivals. A team of 12 members carrying a club standard (flag) and traditional reel march around a rectangular course in the centre of the beach. Formalities such as the national anthem, welcome to competitiors, officials and public, special announcements happen whilst the March Past teams are on the beach. It is an opportunity for North Steyne to be seen and recognised at all carnivals.

Members of the March Past team do not need to be active lifesavers, you only need to hold a CPR certificate. Training will be provided as necessary. March Past is a technical event, requiring the team to move as a single unit in time and step, maintaining positions, and keeping their arms straight!

Training is one evening per week 7-8pm and in true March Past tradition we generally finish with a congenial drink.

If you think you can walk on the sand with your toes before your heels and keep your arms straight…..North Steyne March Past team wants YOU!

Please contact the “Competition Director for details of March Past training.
