Congratulations to David Cowell for winning the Sydney North Beaches Surf Lifesaving Volunteer of the Year Award! He is a very deserving winner for his tireless work at the Club across many areas. Some of his great achievements this year were:
- Securing approximately $200,000 in grants and sponsorship for the Club.
- Organising many of the social events and community activities, including the Back to the Beach party, sponsors and supporters night, the Sun Herald Fun Run and the Bear Cottage Christmas toy drive.
- Running the Ripper Nippers program and growing it to be one of the largest programs on the Northern Beaches for special needs kids.
David also remains heavily involved in Nippers – despite him not having any Nipper-aged kids. He is Nipper’s gear steward and you will see him on Sunday mornings setting up the beach.
David is also patrol captain for mighty Patrol 12 and holds a number of higher awards.
All this with a full-time job, as well as being a very devoted family man.
We are lucky to have David at North Steyne – Congratulations on this very well-deserved award!
