Life Membership is reserved for those whose service is truly extraordinary and whose impact on our club is enduring. It is our privilege therefore to introduce Jodie Frazer, announced at our Annual General Meeting on Sunday 26 July as the newest Life Member of North Steyne Surf Life Saving Club, an extraordinary individual who embodies these qualities in every respect.
Jodie’s contribution to surf lifesaving spans more than four decades, beginning with her Bronze Medallion at Woolgoolga in 1982 and later continuing through 15 outstanding seasons of patrols here at North Steyne after joining us in 2009. She is a respected and influential member of North Steyne and has contributed in many different ways to the club’s operational successes.
These include:
- Patrol captain, with close to 100 hours of patrol and SurfCom in each season
- Has earned 111 Surf Life Saving awards and qualifications.
- Nippers Director
- March Past Coach
- Competitor & Competitor Coach (Life Saving and First Aid comps)
- Competition Official (at Branch, State & National Championships)
- SurfCom Radio Room volunteer
- Club Board Director (multiple roles over many years)
In addition, and as a result of many of the above, Jodie has received the following awards:
- Club Person of the Year (3 times)
- Patrol Person of the year (Twice)
- Training Officer of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
- Patrol of the year (three times as PC & co PC)
- NSSLSC Outstanding Service Award
- NSSLSC Distinguished Service Award
- 15 Year National Patrol Service Award
- National Medal
Currently Jodie is our Education Director for the 4th season in a row.
It is here Jodie has contributed to an outstanding level, improving the Club’s training capability, mentoring of new trainers and assessors, delivering Bronze and ART courses and coordinating First Aid and IRB courses. As a result, we now have one of the best club education programmes on the Northern Beaches.
She has also been instrumental in encouraging award members (young & old alike) to step up for new awards and patrol responsibilities. This has strengthened the future of our club’s operational capabilities.
Jodie has also made a lasting impact through Nippers, Ripper Nippers and youth development, championing inclusion and creating opportunities for every member to belong and succeed.
All this has been achieved with humility, generosity and unwavering commitment. Jodie builds member capabilities, strengthens our club and leaves every role better than she found it.
