The first weekend of the 2025 SNB Branch Championships kicked off on Saturday, 8 February, at Newport.
Among the standout events was the Champion Lifesaver competition, where North Steyne was proudly represented by 10 competitors, including four who were competing in their very first carnival for the club.
The conditions were perfect for the event, with the sun shining brightly, though the waves were sparseβexcept for the iconic Newport shore break, which kept competitors on their toes. Despite the challenging conditions, the North Steyne team delivered an impressive performance, securing five podium finishes.

The success of these results is a testament to the collective effort of the entire North Steyne team whenever we take part in carnivals. Special thanks go to our dedicated officials, Jodie Frazer, Jo Cooper, Keith Abraham, and Joe Mastrangelo Jr., who ensured the smooth running of the event. A big thank you also goes out to our Water Safety team, including Beanon and Kyra, who jumped back into action after their own events to ensure North Steyne met all water safety requirements in the IRB.
Good luck to our lifesavers competing in the First Aid event this weekend at Newport!
