Towards the end of each season, North Steyne SLSC invites nominations for the Club’s honours awards. These awards recognise sustained service rendered by club members over long periods of time and are a separate process to the annual Awards Night. We always have busy summers on the beach and we should take every opportunity to recognise the contributions of our members!
The Life Membership & Honours Panel meets annually and will consider nominations of members in the following areas:
- Club Service Awards. These include Outstanding Service Awards, Distinguished Service Awards, and Life Membership. The criteria for these awards, and for nominations, are contained in the Club Constitution which can be found at here. You can also see lists of existing awardees in our Annual Reports and on the boards in the Club Hall.
Guidelines for nominations, as well as the required Nomination Forms, are linked below.
- Australian National Service Awards. These awards are not SLS-specific but are Australian awards for services to the community and the nation, and often recognise major contributors to key volunteer & charity organisations such as Surf Lifesaving clubs.
Information about the criteria for these awards can be found on https://www.gg.gov.au/australian-honours-and-awards/order-australia.
PLEASE NOTE: many of the awards in this category strictly require that the candidate is not informed of the nomination, so if considering a member for an award in this class, please be certain of any confidentiality requirements before proceeding, or the nomination may be deemed ineligible.
Please do take the time to think of any of our hard-working volunteers that may be eligible to be recognised with one of these prestigious awards.
