Anyone can nominate a member these awards, but there are requirements for the endorsement of a nomination. Life Membership and Service Awards are usually presented at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Life Membership, after recommended by the LMHP, must be voted on all members at a General Meeting for acceptance.
It is important that anyone nominating a member for an award should carefully read the North Steyne constitution, Clause 30, to understand the process, requirements and eligibility criteria. The North Steyne constitution can be foundย here.
You should also carefully read the Nomination Guidelines below. Nomination forms are also provided.
You can also see lists of existing awardees in our Annual Reports and on the boards in the Club Hall.
The LMHP also considers the Australian National Service Awards. These awards are not SLS-specific but are Australian awards for services to the community and the nation, and often recognise major contributors to key volunteer & charity organisations such as Surf Lifesaving clubs. Information about the criteria for these awards can be found on https://www.gg.gov.au/australian-honours-and-awards/order-australia.
Please take the time to nominate a member that you think should be recognised for one of these prestigious awards!
