Patrol Substitution Procedure

We understand that you won’t be able to make all your patrols so to help us make sure North Steyne always has enough members on patrol, you are required to request a substitute for your patrol.

To make this process as easy and inclusive, we ask that you:

    1. Notify your Patrol Captain and/or Patrol Vice Captain as soon you know that you will be unavailable. The patrol roster for the season is published prior to the commencement of our Lifesaving year. Please put your rostered patrols in your calendar!
    2. Request a substitute the through one of the three methods, following the instructions below:

    Option 1SLS members portal.

    Log on to the SLS Members Portal using your username and password.

    Go to the top right corner and select the  icon, then select

    Patrols, then Patrol Roster. You will see all patrols you have been allocated for your assigned patrol group. Identify the date for which you seek a substitute and click the “I need a substitute” box in red to activate it.

    To check that you have registered it correctly or to identify another members Substitute Request, select Patrols, then select Patrol Swap.

    P.S. To easily load every one of your rostered patrols onto your devices calendar, on the My Patrol Roster page, select the "Download Calendar” link, then “Add All” at the top right to automatically add them all immediately to your preferred calendar.

    Option 2 - North Steyne SLSC Community Facebook page.

    Go to the North Steyne SLSC Community fb page and submit a new post.

    Include the details of the patrol you are seeking a substitute for, including date, AM or PM shift (or start and finish time) and the role you are rostered to fulfil for the patrol (ie, which award - ARTC / IRBC / BRZ etc).

    Don’t forget to check the post in the following days to note any responses. Tag someone to make it easier for them to know of the post, especially if you are volunteering to fill the sub request.

    Option 3 - North Steyne SLSC Subs 2023/24 WhatsApp group.

    Open the North Steyne SLSC Subs 2023/24 WhatsApp group and select ‘new message’.

    Include the details of the patrol you are seeking a substitute for, including date, AM or PM shift (or start and finish time) and the role you are rostered to fulfil for the patrol (ie, which award - ARTC / IRBC / BRZ etc).

    Don’t forget to check the post in the following days to note any responses. Tag someone to make it easier for them to know of the post, especially if you are volunteering to fill the sub request.
