Congratulations to Joe Jenkins, Ewan Cooper-Frater and Deb Foote for winning medals at the recent Champion Lifesaver State Championships.

Joe and Ewan competed in the U17 male age group, and we are very proud to report that –

Joe placed second to win the Silver Medal!

Ewan placed third to win the Bronze Medal!

Deb Foote won the Bronze in the over 40 age category in a very competitive field.

Rose Richardson also competed in the U17 female age group and came in 7th place. There were more competitors in this age group than any other so the competition was fierce.

The Champion Lifesaver event is like the Olympic Decathlon with competitors competing across a number of disciplines including knowledge, lifesaving skills and physical abilities. This includes a multiple choice theory paper, lifesaving expertise in resuscitation and patient assessment and a board race, beach sprint, surf swim and rescue tube race.

You need to be a true champion just to compete in this event, and achieving these great results is a testament to hard work, great training and just being awesome.

Good luck at Aussies in a few weeks! Go North Steyne Tigers!
