Nippers is back for season 2019-20. North Steyne beach has been a hive of activity with 250+ nippers on Sunday mornings, our SRC group training on Saturday afternoons, & nipper board training on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. We also have the additional sprint training session with coach Clayton before Sunday nippers.
It’s great to see so many new faces joining us and so many nippers returning season after season; having fun, always learning something new and improving their skills on the beach and in the water.
North Steyne was well represented at the Dee Why Board Carnival on 20th October, next stop is the Beach Carnival at neighbouring Queenscliff on 3rd November. We are busy with preparations for the North Steyne Water and Beach Carnival on Sunday 1st December – all nippers are encouraged to attend and make our carnival the best of the season.
We held a great Water Skills Session for parents and age managers, who all tried out using a rescue board to learn the basics of board technique with our competition director Deb Foote.
Why not join them at the next session on November 10th or go that step further and join our next Bronze Medallion training group for parents which starts on November 9th. Achieving your Bronze Medallion means that you can get in the water with your child during the Sunday nipper sessions and help make nippers safer for everyone.
Remember to get TeamApp to keep up to date with our schedule of events; Download the app from the App Store or Google Store.
Since we are a surf based sport we are at the mercy of the elements which means water activities may be changed or cancelled at short notice. We will issue alerts via TeamApp if events change so that you don’t miss out.
If you have not yet enrolled, purchased a uniform or parking sticker or if you simply have any questions, please turn up early i.e. before 8.30am on a nipper Sunday and find one of our NS team. Remember, it’s a lot easier to enrol or renew your membership online at: https://sls.com.au/join/
See you on the beach!
