Rescue of the Month!

You may have read in the Manly Daily about the fantastic efforts of a group of people who worked to save Wayne Southwell when he collapsed on Shelly Beach on 5 January 2018.

First on the scene, in fact, was our very own Tracey and Trae Hare-Boyd. While Tracey worked with others to administer CPR, Trae ran to Manly LSC to alert the life guards and obtain the defib and oxygen. When she was not doing CPR, Tracey was keeping Surfcom updated of developments.

For their great work, Tracey and Trae have been awarded Rescue of the Month for Sydney Northern Beaches Branch and Surf Life Saving NSW.

James Griffin MP, Member for Manly, recognized the efforts of all those who helped to save Wayneโ€™s life in a Community Recognition Statement. He said,

โ€œIf not for the heroic actions of Brian Williams of Seaforth, Chris Groves and Venetia Barrett of Manly, Alan Bradley, Sarah Adlington, Tracey Hare-Boyd and her son, Trae Hare-Boyd of Balgowlah, Declan Wyton, Grace Lockhart of Seaforth, Nerissa Llana, Emma Smith and Bronte Schultz of Manly, it is fair to say that Mr Southwell would not be with us today.

On behalf of a grateful family and community, I thank each and every one of them for their quick thinking and cool heads in saving Wayneโ€™s life.โ€

Congratulations to Tracey and Trae. A fantastic effort! North Steyne is very proud of you!
