A message from our President

Dear Members,

What a season 2019-2020 has been! All in all, we have had a terrific season with growth in our membership, a great crew of Nippers, the running of two very successful carnivals and the visit of our friends from Gaza for which we were profiled around the world. On top of that, in December/January we experienced the fires, in February the floods and now we have a new challenge upon us.

Given the current COVID-19 situation and with growing government restrictions, we have decided to officially wrap-up the season and put some additional safeguards around the operations of our Club. This was not an easy decision to make but the health, safety, and wellbeing of our members is our first priority.

What this means is that effective immediately we will no longer be running patrols on North Steyne Beach, all training has been suspended and the building has been shut down and will not be accessible until further notice. All our social events have also been postponed.

All these measures, of course, are temporary and we will be monitoring the situation so that as things improve we can get back to normal as quickly as possible.

Remember that North Steyne SLSC is more than a building and more than the activities we are involved in. The strength of North Steyne is all our members who work as a team, care for each other and lend support when the going gets tough. So while the building may close, North Steyne will not. Over the next few months, we will still be in contact and provide other ways to connect. We are currently working on some on-line training, virtual member meet-ups and support for those who need an extra helping hand.

Do not hesitate to reach out to me [email protected] if we can be of assistance in any way. Β Stay connected with us. We are here for you, and we look forward to welcoming you back to our beach in the not too distant future.

Take care and stay safe,

Chris Gibbs Stewart
President
