Junior Lifesaver of the Year Nominees

Cath Hillier Homepage news

Congratulations to the North Steyne Junior Lifesaver of the Year nominees Emilie Morris and Oskar Townsin-Brant, Pictured above with Trainer Jodie Frazer and 2014 Junior Lifesaver of the Year, Jack Watt.

Emilie and Oskar were selected from a number of candidates in our under 14 age group on the basis of their involvement in nippers, competition and their efforts towards achieving their Surf Rescue Certificate. Each candidate submitted a detailed proposal demonstrating their contribution to and understanding of Surf Life Saving, including an original initiative within the organisation to improve service to the community and member experience.

Emilieโ€™s initiative focussed on mental health and support for members involved in traumatic incidents, Oskarโ€™s initiative involved a buddy system to induct SRC candidates into a patrol during their studies to improve education outcomes and member retention.

Emilie and Oskar will attend a series of workshops at Northern Beaches Branch to develop their proposals and will present these to the Branch and hopefully State level award panels.

Well done Emilie and Oskar and we wish you the best of luck.
