New Surf Boat for North Steyne!

webadmin Homepage news

We were very excited to christen a new North Steyne surf boat and welcome it to our fleet. The new boat is a beauty, with the eye of the tiger adorning the bow.

The purchase of the new boat was made possible by the generous sponsorship of Pure Legal and Careline Australia. Principal of Pure Legal, Chris Perry, said she was very pleased to make the purchase of the boat possible. The boat, the Iris, is named after Chris’s mother. Iris, who sadly passed away in 2015, loved the beach and surf. She was also very dedicated to her 5 children, and Chris thinks the boat, like her mother, will take good care of the 5 boaties on board. Chris said that Iris was a lovely and generous lady and would be very honoured to have the surf boat named after her.

Besides looking great, the new boat is also fast and has already proven its worth as in its maiden carnival, the men’s opens brought home a gold. Congrats to Chris, Woody, Uncle Bernie, Whitey and the Boss for a stellar performance at Queensie on the week-end.

In fact, the Boaties are having a great season and have a total of 5 crews, including a new female crew. North Steyne has a very proud history in surf boat racing and has won more national gold medals than any other club. May our proud, winning tradition long continue!

Thanks to all our surf boat sponsors – Pure Legal, Careline Australia, Manly Longboards and the Steyne Hotel. We greatly appreciate all your support!
