What a weekend!! Saturday 13th and 14th November saw the start of SLS Sydney Northern Beaches #SLSSNB Carnivals for this season. Members of Surfboats, Opens, Masters and Junior Nippers all in action on a perfect, sunny weekend.
Four Surfboat crews took to Freshwater Beach on Saturday for Round One and what an incredible day they had! The Ned’s coming home with a 3rd placing in the Opens rounds and the Nedette’s 4th. The reserve men taking 6th place in the finals! To top off the day, Ally Stirling, North Steyne Boat captain, made her first appearance as the Master’s Sweep! Ally is our first ever female Sweep at North Steyne! This will go down in the history books. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALLY!!!
In North Narrabeen, at the Metro Beach Carnival, North Steyne was represented by Mother and Son team – Caroline Yarnell and Kyle Wong. Caroline running in the Masters 2km run and Kyle in the open males sprints. Fantastic efforts all round!
Then Sunday saw an amazing crowd at our very own beach for the North Steyne Nippers Water Carnival. A great day for the Black and Gold Team in the water and on the boards. Coach Tom would be very proud after all the hard work at training. A big thank you to Sarah Lally, Carnival Director and the Nippers Leadership team, Bernie, Hillary and Simon for all their efforts in organising this very successful event.
And finally, thank you to our volunteers on the day that work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the BBQ and the Bar are in full operation to provide refreshments for all our members, visitors and officials of the day. Big thank you to Claire Oxlade and her team. Special mention to our amazing supporters @ManlyLionsClub for providing their trailer BBQ and for cooking up a storm!!! Amazing efforts all round.
