The North Steyne SLSC Annual General Meeting was held on 16 July 2023. Thank you to all members and guests who attended.

Chris Gibbs Stewart, President and Chair of the meeting, noted that the 2022-2023 had been perhaps the busiest season on record for North Steyne.  Along with the usual duties and activities, North Steyne hosted several major events including the NSW State Championships which brought 6000 competitors and 20,000 spectators to the beach. After 2 seasons of uncertainty, North Steyne was back in full force, and it was a relatively normal season which was not significantly disrupted by COVID or weather.

She thanked all the members for their contribution and making North Steyne a can-do Club. She also noted that that once again in North Steyne’s 116-year history, there have been no lives lost whilst on patrol.

Shannon Job, Treasurer, spoke to the good financial results and better than expected positive bottom line achieved for the season. He also thanked our generous supporters, particularly the Balgowlah RSL, the Lions Club of Manly and new sponsor Wystan.

A big congratulations as well to Shannon as he received Life Membership for his long-term and outstanding contribution to the Club. Shannon has been involved with almost every aspect of the Club over his time with North Steyne. He is someone that everyone admires, and we are lucky to have him as part of the North Steyne family.

Congratulations as well to Jack Watt and Claire Oxlade for their Outstanding Service awards and Mark Stewart and Jodie Frazer for receiving Distinguished Service.

Another highlight was Simon Fry receiving his 50-year long service award and Jack Sutherland for being recognised for contributing to the North Steyne for 70-years. What an achievement!

We thanked David and Jean Hay AM for their many years of service to North Steyne as Patrons and acknowledged they were retiring from their duties. James Griffin MP and Des McAteer continue as our Patrons and we welcomed Zali Steggall OAM MP to this role.

The Board was confirmed, as were other Committees and Officer roles.

A recap of the 2022-2023 season, including the audited financial statements, can be found in the Annual Report which can be downloaded here, or stop by the Club to pick up a printed copy.
