North Steyne SLSC Ocean Swim 2023

webadmin Homepage news

Sunday 16th April 2023 our annual Ocean Swim is back by popular demand.

The North Steyne Ocean Swim is a must-do on the ocean swim calendar for its magnificent underwater scenery and marine life you’ll enjoy throughout your swim journey.

Starting at North Steyne (middle of Manly Beach) you’ll journey into Cabbage Tree Bay Marine Reserve which is home to over 160 species of fish, including the large Blue Groper, the Weedy Seadragon and the Spotted Wobbegong, plus many more beautifully coloured marine life.

This ocean swim has two different swim distances on offer, a 1km ocean swim and a 2.8km ocean swim.

The 1km ocean swim is the perfect ocean swim if you’re not quite up to the 2.8km distance just yet, or if you need a warm-up for the main event. This 1km ocean swim course heads out through the surf for 50m before turning left and heading north. From here you will proceed to round the circuit buoys clockwise back to the start-finish line.

The 2.8km ocean swim starts out in front of North Steyne SLSC in the middle of Manly Beach, heads out through the surf and takes a sharp right turn south. From here you will swim parallel to the beach heading across to Fairy Bower and into the Cabbage Tree Bay Marine Reserve and all the magic that awaits beneath the surface. From here you return to the start-finish line, guided by a line of outer swim buoys.
