It is with the heaviest of hearts that we reflect on the passing of Joe Jenkins in a tragic road accident in New Zealand last week. He is the son of Judy & Mike as well as being the younger brother of Kyra and an outstanding North Steyne SLSC member. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Joe has always been an exceptional young member of the North Steyne SLSC Black & Gold family, beginning as an 8 year old in our nipper program. He is well-respected across all areas of the Club regularly contributing up to 50 hours a season to Patrol 9 with Paul Mathew, always volunteering, training and competing as a Champion Lifesaver. Joe quickly became a fearsome competitor in the water, on the beach and underrated by many that did not know him. It is as a Champion Lifesaver that Joe excelled driven by the rivalry with his older sister Kyra and a desire to excel. Always smiling, helping others and admired by everyone.
Joe’s family will let us know details for a Live Stream Service as soon as they can, when restriction ease.
As we reflect on our own relationship with Joe and the Jenkins Family, it is hard not to focus on Joe’s exceptional recent achievements as a Champion at such a young age.
